“Protect your value for all its worth“Marc Leder
You define your worth. Others determine your value. Investments have a cost basis and a market value. The cost basis is what you paid for the investment and generally speaking, remains the same. This is the investment’s intrinsic worth. The market value is what others are willing to pay on any given day for that investment. This is the investment’s value. The market value may be less or more than the cost basis. It fluctuates and that is why an investment’s worth and value are not the same.
The same goes for you. You determine your worth. You define the inherent cost of who you are, what you are worth, and the price of what it costs to access you. You, and you alone set the price.
“I know my worth, I’ve paid dearly for every ounce of it“Alfa
People determine your value, based on many factors, namely their own self-worth. People tend to see you the way in which they see themselves. Some people don’t value expensive items not because they don’t have worth, but simply because they can’t afford them, which is more of a reflection of themselves than that item. Never allow the value someone places on you to question or change your worth. If I’m worth $500 and someone has determined my value to be $100, I will not change my cost basis (worth) to reflect anyone’s market value that is below my intrinsic worth.
The goal is to steadily increase your worth while only allowing others in your life who have assessed your value accurately. Don’t take it personal if someone determines your value to be less than you’re worth. Go where you are celebrated, appreciated and valued.
“Forgive yourself for every single time you forgot your worth”Reyna Biddy
I saw this posted on fb and really loved it (source unknown):
“A father said to his daughter “You have graduated with honors, here is a car I bought many years ago.
It is a bit older now but before I give it to you, take it to the used car lot downtown and tell them you want to sell it and see how much they offer you for it.
The daughter went to the used car lot, returned to her father and said, “They offered me $1,000 because they said it looks pretty worn out.”
The father said, now “Take it to the pawn shop.” The daughter went to the pawn shop, returned to her father and said,”The pawn shop offered only $100 because it is an old car.”
The father asked his daughter to go to a car club now and show them the car. The daughter then took the car to the club, returned and told her father,” Some people in the club offered $100,000 for it because it’s a Holden Torana and it’s an iconic car and sought by many collectors”
Now the father said this to his daughter, “The right place values you the right way,” If you are not valued, do not be angry, it means you are in the wrong place. Those who know your value are those who appreciate you. Never stay in a place where no one sees your value.
